Why is bullying exist?

Social media has become one of necessary part of our life. One of the platform which complete our life. Therefore, everyone uses it. Started by young age, adolescence until elder, they use it in order to know new information, trends, seek new friends even the reunion with their friends in the past. Not often, people use it in order to look for popularity. It is an achievement for some people to get their fame in social media. However, not everyone sees it in positive way, instead, it becomes a platform where they can mock others by using unreal account and think that it is hilarious to intimidate and discriminate them by using verbal abuse. In the end, social media develops into a place for bullying.

The worst is the victim of bullying in social media or called as bullied is not only adult, but also children, who tried to find their passion and pleasure in social media. The bully does think that bullying can effect a bad impact to someone or drown somebody into adversity. Especially children who have unstable feeling. When they get bully or mistreat, they will feel worry and lose their interest in everything, whether in studying, socializing even preparing for their future. This bad action will carry them into a bad future of themselves. That is why bullying is very serious issue that should be diminished.

Well, there are several factors why bullying exist. First is jealousy. Bullying can happen because the bullies are jealous of their target’s status, talents, abilities, circumstances or possessions. They cannot get what they want, so they take what peoples’ have. It is also influenced by dissatisfaction of the bullies with their life. They are not confident enough with their ability and strength, so they try to look for somebody’s weaknesses by bullying them.

Second is attention. When somebody does not get enough attention and they want to be cared, they can become troublemaker. They disturb others with intention to get notice by their society. And the third is pleasure. For the bullies, bullying is a pleasure activity that can make them laugh. When they make a joke on others’ weaknesses then people around them are laughing, it will give more pleasure to the bullies. Because it has fulfilled the bullies’ crave and the bullies feel like a victor.

Those factors probably have been felt by us unconsciously when we give comments toward others while actually we do not know exactly the condition of a person who is commented by us. We never know the effect felt by the victim of our verbal abuse. The effect can be two, the victim will stop it and realize that it is not good to be done continually and the other is the victim will feel that they have accomplished the popularity and they will do it continually. Moreover, the action of the victim will be done by others who think that it is one of the way to reach popularity. So back to us, as the commentator, what is your reason bullying them? If you hate them, do not see it, ignore it. Your verbal can not stop them doing it. Above all, think about this, why we have to spread hatred when we can spread love.
